The Challenge
The customer required a manufacturer that made larger switches (0.180” glass diameter) that could be customized to fit their specific application and pass testing requirements.
Solution
HSI Sensing holds an AS9100 certification which is necessary for industry consideration with most aerospace customers. Our willingness to reverse engineer any products that need a second source or replacement made us the clear partner for aerospace projects. Our reed switches are now utilized in wing tip symmetry sensors found on military fighter aircrafts.

Making The Connection
The HSI Sensing reed switches are positioned to detect the rotation of the motor as the flaps are being extended in F-16 fighter jets. Our switches detect the magnetic pulses of the screw as it turns to verify the flaps are extending simultaneously. It is critical that the switches used on the aircraft have the exact same sensitivity to ensure synchronized execution.
